WHAT ‘Destiny 2’ Shows Off Shadebinder, Revenant, Behemoth Stasis Classes For ‘Beyond Light’ NEW Update 2020

New Subclass

At long last, Destiny 2’s upcoming Beyond Light Stasis subclasses have names, and after 105 minutes of a Gamescom stream, we got a look at another tightly edited trailer showing off many of the new Stasis abilities.

The core thread through all of these subclasses appears to be a new “freeze” and “shatter” mechanic which we glimpsed in past trailers, but was on full display here. It seems like certain moves in your toolkit will freeze enemies solid and then you’re able to shatter them either with follow-up abilities, or apparently, just regular gunfire in a few of these shots. It seems like freezing enemies won’t necessarily be an insta-kill on say, like miniboss size enemies, but I’d be surprised if you didn’t do increased damage to frozen enemies.

So yeah, we learned the tree new names of the subclasses, and they are:

Warlock – Shadebinder, which features an Stasis staff that shoots out frozen projectiles.

Hunter – Revenant, which wields duel ice axes seemingly as melee weapons and they can also be thrown. They also have ricocheting Stasis throwing stars.

Titan – Behemoth, where there’s a lot going on. Seems like they have a Superman Titan style ice punch smash move from above, plus the ability to raise up glaciers from the ground, plus something like ice armor that I assume will work as some sort of damage protection

It’s a great trailer and the powers look cool, but if I have a critique of it, it’s that we still didn’t really learn that much about Stasis or its powers, as I was kind of hoping for a dev deeper dive into it, and I’m told one isn’t coming in today’s TWAB or anything. We have the names now, which is cool, but this was just sort of an upgraded version of the trailer for Stasis we saw a while back.

Finally, I am curious to learn more about Stasis as an element, more than just a new Guardian subclass. Like will Stasis weapons also be freezing and shattering enemies solid? Are old races now getting enemies with Stasis-matching shields we’ll have to break using Stasis weapons? Also, how do the Fallen in Beyond Light use Stasis, as we seem to have seen them doing so in past trailers? Are they the only race that can do Stasis elemental damage?

Update: Bungie has put up a Stasis page with a little more information, including the fact that there will be time reveals for each subclasses starting in about a week:
